Team Leader in Finance and Audit Manager / Support to implementing partners on EU financial management rules and procedures in Nigeria

General description of the position: This role requires a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in audit, accounting, and financial management. The ideal candidate should possess a relevant university degree in fields such as Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Project Management, or related disciplines. Membership in a recognized accounting or auditing body is required, and further professional qualifications in accounting are advantageous. Further, he should demonstrate a strong ability to manage a team and good appreciation of the Nigerian context as well as EU grants processes.

• Qualifications and skills required: - Relevant university degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Project Management or related fields. - Should be a member of a national or international accounting or auditing body or institution.
- Professional qualifications in the field of accounting will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen understanding of financial management, procurement processes, and documentation standards. - Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team of technical experts. Ability to work with diverse stakeholders. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with grantees, stakeholders, and contracting authorities, fostering a collaborative working environment. - Excellent analytical skills for evaluating grant
applications and understanding the key components of successful proposals.
• General professional experience: - At least 12 years professional experience as a professional auditor or accountant in an audit firm or with an international donor organisation. - Managerial experience in audit practice/leading audit teams in EDF and EU budget projects; and audit related services experience in beneficiary countries of EU external action is an added advantage. - Proven experience in grant management,
successful proposal writing, or related fields within the non-profit or development sector. - Proven track record in developing and providing capacity-building support to organizations, particularly in financial management, procurement, and documentation
• Specific professional experience: - At least 2 previous experience in financial and grant management. - Previous experience in designing and delivering engaging courses and training programs in the areas of financial and grant management, is required. -Strong knowledge of EU’s grant procedures and financial regulations. - Familiarity with accounting software and financial reporting systems. - Proven experience in conducting
training sessions focused on reading and interpreting EU guidelines, as well as practical application in proposal writing for CSOs. - Experience in reviewing, writing, and editing concept notes and full proposals that have successfully passed administrative checks will be an advantage
• Language skills: Fluency in English
• Number of working days: 175 days
• Additional information: The team leader will assume overall responsibility of the
team and lead the coordination of the TA’s efforts aimed at enhancing the financial management capabilities of the grantees. The team leader will report to the Head of finance, contracts and audit section of the contracting authority.
